NETSILIK DOCUMENTARY SERIES- Videos portray traditional Netsilik (Nunavat) culture and way of life. These are gorgeous, fascinating films. There are nine films in the series. Here I present two, At the Autumn Camp and At the Caribou Crossing Place. I will add more as I find them.
Inuit Art
Kiashuk, admired as one of the greatest Inuit (Netsilik) artists, died in 1966, nearly eighty years old. He was renowned among his people as a hunter, a storyteller, and a singer of the old songs. His drawings and prints portray all aspects of Inuit life, hunting, fishing, and the world of the spirits.
Storytelling
The Owl Who Married a Goose
I'll be sharing more folktales soon (I hope), but as a starter, here is a video with lovely animation. It is in an Inuit language, but the story can be understood from the pictures. Can anyone translate it for me?
